Presentation Description:

We live in an extraordinary time--the time of prophecy. The Mayan prophecies signal 2012 as a climactic moment for human history and evolution. What does 2012 mean for us today? How will we arrive at that Omega point of human destiny assuring that what is following is Heaven on Earth? The answer to these questions includes very practical steps which will be elaborated upon in the workshop the following day. All proceeds from the workshop go directly to the Foundation for the Law of Time a nonprofit public charity registered in the State of Oregon. The Foundation uses the funds to print calendars, books and educational tools which are freely distributed worldwide.

Presenter's Biography:

Best known as the initiator the world famous Harmonic Convergence global peace meditation of August 16-17, 1987, Jose Arguelles was also one of the originators of the Earth Day concept and is recognized as the "father of the Whole Earth Festival,"Davis, California, now in its 34th year.

He received a Ph.D. in art history and aesthetics from the University of Chicago (1969), and has held professorships at Princeton University, University of California Davis, the Evergreen State College, the Naropa Institute, San Francisco State University, San Francisco Institute of Art, University of Colorado, Denver, and the Union Graduate School.

As an artist, he is noted for his contributions to psychedelic art, including the legendary "Doors of Perception", on display at the Time is Art Gallery, 500 A Street, here in Ashland, and his murals at Evergreen State College and University of California, Davis.

His numerous books include the international best seller, The Mayan Factor, Earth Ascending, Surfers of the Zuvuya, the Arcturus Probe and most recently Time and the Technosphere, The Law of Time in Human Affairs.

As a scholar of comparative religion and world thought, he has made major contributions to research on the I Ching, and studied and practiced Tibetan Buddhism for many years with artist and meditation master, Chogyam Trungpa. More recently he has focused his attention on the mathematics of the Quran, and is calling for a "return to UR -the Universal Religion."

Jose is most noted for his pioneering work on the Mayan Calendar. A visionary experience at the age of fourteen atop the Pyramid of the Sun, Teotihuacan, Mexico, in 1953, led him to a lifelong investigation of the mathematics and prophecies associated with The Mayan calendar. His decoding of its mathematics resulted in the discovery of the Law of Time. According to the Law of Time, modern humanity is in trouble because it is immersed in an erroneous and artificial perception of time, causing it to deviate at an accelerated rate from the natural order of the universe.

To remedy this self-destructive situation, Arguelles has been promoting the return to a natural timing cycle through the regular measure of the Thirteen Moon 28-day calendar, as well as tools for navigating the fourth dimension of time, including the interactive game Dreamspell, the Journey of Timeship Earth 2013, and his decoding of the prophecy of Pacal Votan, Telektonon.

He is President for the Foundation for the Law of Time, a non profit organization that promotes the new time knowledge and a world-wide calendar change peace movement. On March 3, 2002, Arguelles was honored as "Valum Votan, Closer of the Cycle" by Nine Indigenous Elders atop the Pyramid of the Sun, Teotihuacan, who awarded him a ceremonial staff for helping to wake humanity up to the meaning of 2012, the end-date of the 5125 year Great Cycle of the Mayan calendar. According to Arguelles, the time for humanity to begin the shift to the Thirteen Moon 28-day calendar is on July 25-26, 2004, the Great Calendar Change. From then on, he declares we are all on the Road to 2012.
