Lecture: Children of the Earth by Steve Traisman Time: 7:00pm - 9:00pm Location: RVML Event Center - 258 A St, Ashland By Steve Traisman All Tuesday evening events at RVML are free admission Lecture and Slide Presentation Presentation Description: Steve will present a slide show called "Children of the Earth". These brilliant photographs were taken of Steve's three daughters and other children as they grew up at Meta Tantay. The film "Rolling Thunder - Healer of Meta Tantay" is in the Metaphysical Library - Steve is prominently featured in this film. "Children of the Earth" portrays the vibrancy and good health that children experience as they grow up on the land, in a traditional way. Also, Steve will show recent clips from World Peace Day and the Ashland Country Fair events, to demonstrate how our culture is evolving towards a stronger connection to the Land and to Nature. This year's Ashland Country Fair is at the Wellsprings, Sept. 27 and 28. If we dance, pray, and celebrate life together, there is hope. Presenter's Biography: Steve Traisman grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He is from a Russian Jewish family. At the age of 10, his parents bought him a tipi, which he set up in his backyard. This gift would change Steve's life dramatically. After graduating from Northwestern University in 1975, Steve moved to Nevada where he spent eight years in a traditional Native American community called Meta Tantay (Chumash for "Walk In Peace"). The founder of the community was Rolling Thunder. In 1994 Steve moved to Ashland. 4 years later he founded Walk In Peace, a non-profit organization devoted to preserving the beauty of the Old Ways. Steve is the Director of Walk In Peace, which produces World Peace and Prayer Day on June 21st, and the Ashland Country Fair on the Fall Equinox. These events raise awareness about how we can clean up the world through dance and prayer.
