![]() An Introduction to a Different School of Economics By Vincent Cozza All Tuesday evening events at RVML are free admission! Presentation Description: In his retirement, Vince Cozza has taken a deep interest in Economics and he loves writing. Over several years, he has researched the literature, and discovered that an economic system, is not just about money or finances, it molds a political system, a popular culture, and it even determines the future of a nation. He wrote a well documented two part book (self published) in language anyone can understand, about our changing culture, and why economic forces are grounded in the logic of human action. In most colleges, Economics is taught as an empirical science, like geology or physics, which is inappropriate. Unlike rocks or planets, humans think, then act - to buy, sell, or abstain. Therefore, the opinions most people have about socioeconomic issues, are based in hope, not reality, because the 'cause and effect' of economic activity is missing from our education. When Economics is left to the 'pundits', we become vulnerable to the emotional appeals of power-hungry politicians. If we act on emotions, and not reason, we support economic policies that sound compassionate, but usually turn out to harm our society badly, in ways we don't even understand. His talk is an introduction to a different school of Economics, one which relies more on reason than statistics to defend a position. This perspective helps us understand how a truly free market actually works, in spite of government interventions, which only prolong and make worse the horrendous 'boom and bust' periods we have been through recently. Attend this seminar and find out why this is so.
