Lecture: Krishnamurti- "Truth is a Pathless Land" by Sandy Felton Time: 7:00pm - 9:00pm Location: RVML Event Center - 258 A St, Ashland
![]() 90 Min. Lecture and video presentation with break and Q&A period. All Tuesday evening events at RVML are free admission Presentation Description: "Truth is a pathless land." So said J. Krishnamurti (1895-1986), when he shocked thousands of his followers in 1929, renouncing the path that he was chosen for by the Theosophical Society, the World Teacher. Yet "K," as he was later known, nevertheless became *a* World Teacher, one of the most prominent philosophers of the twentieth century, who influenced Alduous Huxley, Charlie Chaplin, Rupert Sheldrake, the physicist David Bohm, Jonas Salk, Van Morrison, and many others. K was so highly regarded because of the simple clarity of his teachings, what he called "direct perception" of life, where we can be "choicelessly aware" of ourselves and our surroundings without the crutches of knowledge, authority, and beliefs. K taught a very empowering truth, that we don't need gurus or beliefs to tell us what is right or how to live. We can find our own truth by the mindful discipline, the learning, perceiving, what is, moment to moment. K was undoubtedly the original "power of now" teacher! Tonight we will learn about Krishnamurti's very humble beginnings, the remarkable "discovery" of the future World Teacher by the controversial clairvoyant Charles Ledbeatter, the events of K's life that led to his renouncing the World Teacher role, along with a discussion of his teachings, including books and videos available for those who are interested (nothing will be for sale). The speaker will also discuss the impact of K's teachings on his own life, and hopefully members of the audience who have had contact with these teachings will share their insights. The very complete web site of the Krishnamurti Foundation of America is http://www.kfa.org. The Foundation is located in beautiful (and expensive!) Ojai, CA, a location which played a large role in K's personal awakening in the1920's. Sandy Felton studied K's teachings for a number of years and has tried simply to live them. He is not associated with any Krishnamurti foundation though he happily donates money to KFA and is eager to share K's teachings when he can. He has been into metaphysics/awareness since the 70's. He has BA's in Russian Studies and computer programming, an MA in Liberal Arts, and considers studying, working, and traveling in Russia, Europe, and Asia, to be his most mind-expanding experiences. Sandy has been a computer programmer for years because he has a practical side about making money. He lives in Ashland and works at a software company in Medford.
