Presentation Description:
Beginning with a review of the history of curanderismo in Peru, including Pre-Columbian cosmology and the introduction and integration of folk Catholicism.
Followed by an overview of the primary healing/ritual/ceremonial traditions of the three major regions of Peru; north coast, Andean and Amazonian.
Then an introduction to the Peruvian Shaman's Mesa which is an altar-like arrangement of sacred items and power objects reverently used to activate profound states of consciousness for individual, collective and planetary healing.
Presenter's Biography:
Ray is a gifted teacher, healer and ceremonialist. He has studied with traditional medicine people in the north coast, Andean and Amazonian regions of Peru, including an in-depth apprenticeship with Don Oscar Miro-Quesada, renowned master curandero and ceremonialist from Peru. In addition Ray leads groups on pilgrimages to Peru and has been traveling to and thru Peru for the past 5 years.
Ray has also traveled extensively performing ceremony and ritual in Europe and Israel.
