A talk by local astronomer Richard Moeschl Monday Evening November 20, 2006 7-9 PM Presented by: "Astrology in Ashland"- The Southern Oregon Chapter of the National Council for Geocosmic Research (SONCGR*) $5, General Public, $4 Seniors (62+), $3 SONCGR Member Meets every third Monday of the month at RVML Lecture Description: Join us for an evening with one of the Rogue Valley's favorite speakers. Richard Moeschl will share some simple astronomy that will help astrologers understand what they do as it is informed by the living sky. He will also tell us what we can see in the night sky this winter and address the lively question of "What happened to Pluto?" This is a rare chance for astrologers to be with an astronomer who also loves the symbolic language of astrology. Richard is Arts and Entertainment Editor and columnist for the Mail Tribune and the Ashland Daily Tidings. He wrote and produced the weekly astronomy program "The Milky Way Starlight Theater" which aired for a number of years on Jefferson Public Radio. He is the author of "Exploring the Sky: Projects for Beginning Astronomers" (Chicago Review Press). He wrote columns about seasonal celebrations and our relations with the stars for The Mountain Astrologer, Sentient Times and the Ashland Daily Tidings. He teaches Elderhostel at Southern Oregon University and owned NightStar, a business which designed and manufactured star maps. Richard is the founder and Executive Director of Horizon Institute which explores the interface between science and spirituality in determining what it means to be human. As a playwright, Richard continues to examine those themes in his plays. He is a finalist for this year's Angus Bowmer award for drama in the Oregon Book Awards.
