Wed. Aug. 20, 7pm: “The Campaign of Miner Bo.” This documentary follows Bo Copley, a coal miner from West Virginia, who made an unexpected bid for the U.S. Senate in 2018. Through his candidacy and personal story, the film sheds light on the struggles, hopes, and complexities of working-class Americans often reduced to stereotypes in national conversations.
As filmmaker Todd Drezner explains: “Like any real person, Bo is much more than a stereotype. I hope that by bringing his story to a wide audience, I can help people on the right and the left look past stereotypes, empathize with each other, and recognize that all of us have stories worth telling.”
Join facilitator Marla Estes, MA, and learn how to “depolarize within.” Watch fascinating and insightful videos carefully selected to explore ways to depolarize and then engage in a facilitated discussion to help integrate new perspectives.
With a background in Psychology, Marla created Building Bridgers in 2017 to address the growing social and political polarization in our country.
For nearly 20 years, she has been giving presentations, movie nights, book groups, workshops, and classes helping people learn to develop insights and skills in approaching difficult conversations, deepening and growing healthy, functional, and fulfilling relationships.
