Mariah Hegarty (1955-2016) was a prolific poet who found inspiration in the hills, creeks, and back roads of southern Oregon, creating poems that honor the area’s unique beauty. Her poems chronicle her life as a daughter, mother, wife, and lover of women. They give shape to the experience of a woman defining and redefining herself as she follows her heart’s compass. In 1998, Mariah founded the Manzanita Quarterly Literary Review, which showcased both regional and national poets. No matter the medium, Mariah always opened her heart to life. This collection is a testament to her courage.
