Lecture and Discussion: What is Romantic Love?
By Marla Estes, MA

$5.00 to $10.00 suggested donation, everyone welcome.

Presentation Description:

What is romantic love? Is it love? What is imaginary and what is real? Is being "in love" based on chemistry more than anything else? When is it love and when is it codependence and fear? What is the difference between attachment and connection? Is there a soul mate out there for each of us?

Are we attracted to those with whom we can heal childhood wounds? Is relationship a crucible for personal evolution? Do you believe that a life can be complete without a romantic love relationship? Is love a state of being or an emotion? Why is it that so often love and romantic relationships have difficulty co-existing?

Please join us to discuss these and other mysteries. Weaving in psychological, Jungian, and sociological concepts, we will explore aspects of romantic love such as projection, idealization, internalization, archetypes, and the potential healing power of love.

Our discussion will focus on relationship as a process instead of as a goal. Through this examination, we have the opportunity to bring more clarity, understanding and awareness to both our conscious and unconscious ideas of love with the possibility of making room for new ones to emerge.
