Workshop: The Law of Attraction- Why It Works and Why It Doesn't
By Dean Shrock, Ph.D and Leonard Laskow, MD
Cost: $25.00. More information: (541) 826-7740 e-mail: [email protected]
SEE ALSO: Introductory Lecture- Tuesday Feb 26, 7pm http://www.rvml.org/calendar/wc02262008.htm
Workshop Description:
Research has clearly demonstrated the power of the mind to improve our lives, including quantum physics, which describes how the mind is constantly creating our world and all of our life circumstances. Metaphysical perspectives further explain this power of the mind or "Law of Attraction".
However, while many of us would claim to know and understand this, most of us are far from realizing our dreams. This workshop will focus on identifying and removing blocks or resistance to getting more of what we want out of life.
Presenters' Biographies:
Dean Shrock, Ph.D. is a Mind-Body Medicine consultant for Triune Integrative Medicine in Medford, Oregon. He served as Director of Mind-Body Medicine for a physician management group of 40 cancer centers. Dr. Shrock is coauthor of the chapter "Mind-Body Medicine in Integrative Cancer Care" in Integrative Oncology, Andrew Weil MD and Donald Abrams MD, editors (in press). He also is author of "Doctor's Orders: Go Fishing", and his newest book that he's currently writing is titled, "Why Love Heals". He has made more than 1,000 professional and public presentations.

----
Leonard Laskow, MD: The principles of holoenergetic healing are presented in Dr. Laskow's breakthrough book, "Healing with Love". Highly recommended by Deepak Chopra, Larry Dossey, and Dolores Krieger, this book uses ancient and cutting-edge healing techniques, self awareness, energy work, and practical exercises to help one directly experience love as a healing force. In it Dr. Laskow describes his laboratory research, which documents the effectiveness of heart-focused holoenergetic techniques in significantly inhibiting the growth of tumor cells in tissue culture and bacterial growth in test tubes.
The book, originally published in 1992 by Harper Collins, has sold over 30,000 copies in eight languages. In subsequent research, Dr. Laskow has shown that the molecular configuration and properties of water and the physical structure of DNA can be changed by conscious intention, imagery and love.

Presenter's Biography:
Victoria Christian is a mystical artist, writer and eco-feminist. She holds undergraduate and Masters degrees in sociology, with an emphasis in the sociology of gender, social theory, the sociology of art and ecofeminism. For her thesis, she did research on Women Artists and Identity Formation in a Postmodern Society.
Aside from her academic training, she pursued her own research on feminine mysticism in art, which entailed interviewing over fifty artists from all over the United States, some of which are contributors to this book. The impetus for the research stemmed from her own experiences as a woman artist as well as her disillusionment over the demise of the feminine principle in the West, and the lack of sacred images of the Goddess.
In examining the creative works of several visual artists, writers and poets, she noticed a common thread or genre of art that has gone unrecognized in the contemporary art world. She refers to this genre as Feminine Mysticism because the core artistic mission of all of these artists is to cultivate an awareness of the Divine, particularly the Great Goddess in Western society as she has been so hidden from view. For more information about her books and artistic mission, you can view her website at

Lecture: KENTRO Body Balance- Movements for Strength, Joy, and Ease
By Angelika Thusius
$5.00 - 20.00 Suggested donation, everyone welcome
Presentation Description:
The new, innovative KENTRO Body Balance method, created by Angelika Thusius, sheds a soulful light on posture and reveals a delightful secret. We can have a supple body, pleasurable vitality, a strong back and joyful postural expression into old age by practicing the radically simple KENTRO movements while we garden, walk and wash the dishes. KENTRO (Greek for 'center') merges an affectionate view of our bodies with sensing centering movements throughout our bodies, in all situations.
This harmonious flow dissolves pain and strain. Right away, we enjoy our activities- which tone, stretch, relax and ground us. We can continually feel and embody such aliveness, which we may have glimpsed on other levels of our being.
Fortunately, with KENTRO you do not have to push, tighten, tuck and continuously over contract muscles to "correct your posture" with KENTRO practices, you sense the difference between stressful and comfortable, spirited motion-while you sit at the computer or explore Tai Chi. You savor your open- bodied looks and feel fit without effort. Every move is exercise, every move is grace.
Presenter's Biography:
Angelika Thusius was born in Bremen, Germany. In 1972, in Paris, she suffered a debilitating back and neck accident. Ten years of therapies, yoga and acupuncture only gave brief relief. Angie got certified by the Iyengar Yoga Institute (Paris) but soon developed the KENTRO program, which made her pain-free. Now, at 65, she is taller and stronger than 35 years ago.
Over three decades, Angie researched the motion of people- in twelve countries- who stay physically resilient throughout their lives. She has taught KENTRO and Grounding through Greek Dances for 21 years, in Europe and North and Central America. Her recently published book, "KENTRO Body Balance, The Secret Pleasures of Posture" contains thirty-three movements and hundreds of inspirational and instructional images interweaving psyche with physiology, soul with structure and anatomy with art.
Testimonials:
"Thusius' KENTRO stretches and strengthening exercises have dramatically improved a number of chronic conditions that failed to improve during chiropractic and medical physical therapy. I highly recommend her work." - Kerby Stewart, M.D.
"At last! A body method that is gentle- yet deep, respectful, and offers an abundance of exercises to balance, strengthen, and become awake to new physical possibilities. Enjoy your newfound life journey through this ancient and contemporary body approach." - Ilana Rubenfeld author, of "The Listening Hand" and creator of the Rubenfeld Synergy Method

Facilitators' Biography:
Dominic Allamano is a passionate and potent voice of the emerging visionary generation, inspiring others to shine their light brightly by boldly and humbly shining his. Since his late teens, when he began to see clearly following life altering physical trauma, he has focused his energies in two interrelated realms. The first is the realms of experiential education and explorations of the embodiment of consciousness, while the second is in a deep exploration of the sociological and systemic elements of the dominant world culture. The merging of these two realms has allowed him to perceive many of the key patterns and dynamics that define today's world and hold the promise for tomorrow's.
He feels called to be as a midwife to the emerging culture, assisting both in its birth and development as well as in the navigation of the unforeseen consequences of humanity's past choices, which are defining the context for that emergence. Through extensive travels and speaking around the Pacific Northwest he has aligned with an inspired network of allies with whom he is crafting new paradigm networks and tools like the WorldCrafter's Network ( http://www.worldcrafters.org) and CultureSeed ( http://www.cultureseed.org) to support the emergence of this new culture.

Lecture: The Yogic/Sattvic Diet
With Noah Volz
Suggested donation $5.00 - $15.00, everyone welcome.
Presentation Description:
The quality or state of our awareness is the real index of the quality of our lives. All life is composed of three basic qualities: 1 darkness and ignorance (tamas) 2 turbulance and illusion (rajas) 3 peace and truth (sattva). Ayurveda explains the effects of foods, medicines, and other factors according to these factors. By understanding which foods and medicines are sattvic we can promote that quality in our consciousness. This will improve the way food helps us to live our lives true to our own unique truth.
Ayurvedic- Yogic medicine considers the higher energetic pattern of health and disease. It looks at Nature's movement towards the development of consciousness. Ayurveda recognizes the intelligence inherent in nature and using the substances of nature in a qualitative and conscious manner.
This requires connecting with the force of nature on an inner level. Yogic medicine does not seek expansion on the level of the outer qualities. The inner levels of treatment are more important than the outer.
They are more universal and less complex but require a more active role and participation on the part of the patient. How complex our knowledge or treatment is on a biochemical or naturalistic basis is irrelevant if we do not connect the patient with their own life-energy and the spiritual intelligence behind it. This requires simplicity and a return of responsibility to the patient. Such simplicity is not a lack of insight but of going to the core.

Noah Volz is an Educator and Clinical practioner of Ayurveda at Inward Bound Wellness Center in Ashland.

Lecture and Discussion: Conversations about Love
By Marla Estes, MA
$5.00 to $10.00 suggested donation, everyone welcome.
Presentation Description:
The Paradox of Relationship: "I alone must become myself; I cannot become myself alone." -Pittman Mcgeehee
Join us in our on-going conversation about Love. Tonight's topic will be Desire. What is desire? What does it serve? Should we squelch desire or develop "right relationship" to it? Can we experience desire without the need to obtain that which we desire? Can we desire without clinging or craving? Can we simply enjoy the feeling of desire or yearning? Can our desire point us towards our aliveness?
**What happens when you depend on romantic relationship for your sense of aliveness?* *
Please join us to discuss these and other mysteries, weaving in psychological, Jungian, and sociological concepts. Our discussion will focus on relationship as a process instead of as a goal. Through this examination, we have the opportunity to bring more clarity, understanding and awareness to both our conscious and unconscious ideas of love with the possibility of making room for new ones to emerge.
Facilitator's Biography:
Marla Estes lives in Ashland and is a workshop leader, teacher, writer, and mentor. Having a Masters degree in Transpersonal Studies, she has taught at SOU Extension, the SAEJ program at Ashland High School, and has lead women's study groups. Currently she is co-facilitating a monthly Enneagram workshop. Several of her articles have been published in the Sentient Times.

Meditation with Swami K.M. Tayumanever (Swami Ty)
January 19, 2007 and February 16, 2008 7-9pm
Free admission, donations appreciated, everyone welcome.
Description:
Swami K. M. Tayumanavar (Swami Ty for short.), and the Jothy Marga Meditation group have been quietly meditating in Ashland for about 15 years, have recently decided to go a bit more public.
Swami Ty is an accessible teacher of meditation. He was under formal discipline for 15 years with a traditional Yoga Order. He lived and taught in India, Sri Lanka, Switzerland and Hawaii. A tradition in his order was that sometime after 12 years one had to decide to go on retreat, or leave and teach others. Swami was planning on retreat, but felt a call to go out and make some of the ancient teachings a bit more available in the West.
We ask questions of Swami for a while. Nothing is off limits, but we try to keep it spiritual. Then Swami leads a meditation using a mantram language that is mostly unknown in the west, but is a very powerful tool for self-exploration even when first introduced to it.
If you are having fun, you are doing it right. We wish to help people become whole in body, emotion, mind, and spirit. We are all in this together and the more we can get a degree of enlightenment in the world the transitions now underway will be easier.
There is never a charge for these teachings, however Swami puts out his begging bowl and hopes to receive enough to pay for gas food and rent of the room. He lives in the Northern California Desert, about 3 1/2 hours away by truck.

Lecture: The U.S. Pluto Return- America's Destiny in the 21st Century
By Julia Bondi
Presented by: "Astrology in Ashland"- The Southern Oregon Chapter of the
National Council for Geocosmic Research (SONCGR*)
$6.00, General Public, $5.00 Seniors (62+), $3.00 SONCGR Members
Meets every third Monday at RVML (except July and August)
Presentation Description:
Pluto will return to its natal position of 27 Capricorn in the US chart in 2022-2023. As we prepare for this challenge, it is time to review the major turning points (crises) in U.S. history through their Astrological signatures. Then we can examine how we might renew the sacred contract of the Declaration of Independence. The underlying issues of the 21st century "War on Terrorism" are as significant and necessary as the Civil War and the World War II were to the emergence of the full potential of the founder's vision.
Julia Bondi will present the spiritual purpose and destiny of the U.S. as they are delineated in the Sibley chart. As the U.S. approaches its Pluto return in 2022, we are challenged to live up to this potential consciously. Founded as the discovery of Uranus awakened humanity to individuality and freedom, the U.S. was intended to be the world beacon of liberty. This talk will focus on the Uranus/Aquarius dynamics in the U.S. chart as the Age of Aquarius dawns and the United Sates is asked to play its leadership role in that dawning.
A handout of the U.S. chart and its current progressions will be available at the talk and we will leave time for questions and discussion on this critical period in our history. Astrology sheds a bright light on our current world and future.
Presenter's Biography:
Julia Bondi began her study of Metaphysics and Astrology in 1973. With degrees in clinical psychology, history, and esoteric philosophy as well as a 25 year career as a successful practicing Astrologer and spiritual counselor, Julia brings a visionary and practical view of Astrology to her work and her clients. Julia has taught Astrology and Metaphysics for 20 years, has spoken at NCGR conferences and is a published writer.
This talk is the core of Julia's forthcoming book on the U.S. destiny in the 21st century.

Lecture: Astrology as a Symbolic Language of the Inner Journey
By Catherine J. Larkin
$5.00 - 20.00 Suggested donation, everyone welcome
Presentation Description:
Astrology can be useful in a variety of ways. My own study of astrology coincided with an interest in Jungian psychology. So my interest has been in utilizing astrological symbolism for understanding the inner journey. The signs of the zodiac describe not only personality traits, but also a cycle of development.
Themes such as the inner marriage of male and female, the hero's journey, confronting the shadow, etc. all have their astrological symbols. We will explore some of these inner dynamics of the individual horoscope as a mandala of wholeness and look at transits as signposts on the soul's journey.
Presenter's Biography:
Catherine Jane Larkin, M.A., has 25 years experience as a healer, teacher, counselor and astrologer. In 1989 she was certified in Self Attunement, which facilitates healing at the individual soul level. In 2002 this was extended to working with the family soul through the Bert Hellinger Family Constellations.
Catherine was introduced to astrology in 1982 by Barbara Hand Clow while both were students in the Institute of Creation Centered Spirituality. Liz Greene, Howard Sasportas and Stephen Arroyo have been key influences. She is a gifted public speaker and synthesizes from many sources.
Born in Iowa in 1952, Catherine's life long commitment to serving humanity has taken various forms. She has benefited from numerous teachers, including A. H. Almaas, Don Kolmar, Helen Luke, Marion Woodman, Adi Da, Gangaji, Catherine Ingram, Stan Grof, the SFA community, and the Steps to Knowledge program. She graduated from Matthew Foxe's Institute of Creation Centered Spirituality in 1983. Her articles have been published in Conscious Choice magazine in Chicago.
Catherine has traveled extensively to work with planetary energies, including 18 months in the United Kingdom, where her ancestral roots lie. She invites you to share her vision of calling forth the goodness of the human heart and accessing ancestral wisdom to be caretakers of the earth.

Free Lecture: Citizen Empowerment: The Power of Political Reconciliation with Joseph McCormick, Co-founder, Reuniting America
Free admission, everyone welcome
Note: This lecture is an introduction to Joseph's presentation on Tuesday, April 1, 7:00pm at RVML. See: http://www.rvml.org/calendar/wc04012008.htm
Presentation Description:
The consequence of political polarization, our "house divided," is citizen disempowerment. Disempowered citizens blame unaccountable government on "those liberals" or "those conservatives." Empowered citizens take responsibility for our situation and develop skills to communicate and cooperate across political divides to hold government accountable. In the course of his time spent building political bridges, Joseph McCormick, co-founder, Reuniting America has discerned three sets of skills needed for true citizen empowerment: personal, inter-personal, and trans-personal. Personal citizen empowerment skills are developed when we look deeply at ourselves and examine our values and belief systems. Inter-personal skills are the skills of small group dialogue and deliberation. Trans-personal skills are the skills of social networking that lead to the emergence of social movement. Participants will receive guidelines for convening and facilitating living-room size transpartisan Citizen Empowerment groups, CE groups. They will also be exposed to state-of-the-art social networking tools for networking these groups from community to community. They will also be exposed to a practical vision for annual, regional, transpartisan Citizen Summits and an annual, national Transpartisan Citizen Summit that draw delegates from the network of local CE groups.
This presentation is based on the work of Reuniting America, an organization that has been convening national leaders from across the political spectrum in transpartisan gatherings for the past four years. RA has convened seven private, multi-day, professionally facilitated retreat dialogues among top leaders from groups as diverse as Common Cause, Christian Coalition, Americans for Tax Reform, American Conservative Union, American Legion, AARP, MoveOn.org, League of Women Voters and others (see 5 min. video: http://reunitingamerica.org/perspectives/reuniting-america-short-edit).
The goal of these gatherings has been to build trust and deepen relationships in order to identify and support collaborative action on issues of national concern.
Presenter's Biography:
Joseph McCormick, co-founder, Reuniting America, seeks to bridge political divisions by helping to re-connect us -- in our civic practice -- to the unifying principles accepted by all Americans. From his experience of over a decade in Republican politics and through hours of dialogue with leaders, experts and average people about the state of our democratic republic, he recognizes the most destructive force in our country today is Americans taking sides against Americans. He has chosen to become politically un-affiliated and is now committed to respecting all points of views as having a vital contribution to the whole. He is a former officer in the U.S. Army Rangers, a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and has a degree in Public and Private Management from Yale University.

Lecture: Introduction to Gaia University and "Action Learning"
By Shaktari Belew
$5.00 - 20.00 Suggested donation, everyone welcome
Presentation Description:
Gaia University offers a unique approach to higher learning by offering students (called Associates) access to accredited Bachelors and Masters degrees and Graduate Diplomas whilst the Associate is actively engaged in self and planetary transformation. Linking your ideals with self-directed practical experience, you act as a world changer, by working for local and global sustainability and regeneration, justice and peace.
Our self-directed action learning methodology (see below) enables you to study locally, at work or on project, in your own language, supported by Gaia University's Regional Organizers, and a worldwide network of learning providers, tutors and mentors.
No longer do you have to choose between earning a living and studying. With action learning your work and your projects become your places of study.
What is Action learning? It is not certain when the term was first used, but Dr. Reg Revans of England is widely credited as the man who developed the action learning methodology for training managers.
In the 1930s he had worked as a member of Ernest Rutherford's research team, at the Cavendish Laboratories, University of Cambridge. This gave Revans the impetus to develop his ideas on action learning. Each week Rutherford would gather together his team - which consisted of more than a dozen future Nobel Laureates - and encourage them to question their own knowledge and to collaborate on developing fresh ideas.
In 1935, Revans become director of education at Essex County Council. While there, a colleague asked him to look at the high level of staff turnover among nurses in hospitals. Why did so many leave after training? His investigations revealed the main reason for dissatisfaction among newly qualified nurses: the culture in which they worked did nothing to encourage them.
Revans went on to become the first professor of business at the University of Manchester, where he worked until 1965. Revans' vision was of practical business people learning from each other, creating their own resources, identifying their own problems and forming their own solutions. This was not how most academics saw it.
Revans' next big challenge was Belgium. He headed the inter-university project, which had the task of moving the small kingdom up from the bottom of the organization for economic co-operation and development league, where it had languished for several years. Traditional measures had been tried but had failed. Under Revans'
stewardship, five Belgian universities and 23 of the country's largest business organizations worked together to find a solution to the national malaise. This collective approach succeeded in putting Belgium's industrial productivity growth rate, at 102 per cent, ahead of the US, Germany and Japan between 1971 and 1981.
HISTORY: Gaia U. has been designed from the joint threads of the International Management Centers Association which has been offering action learning based business programs since 1982 and the Permaculture Diploma WorkNet, designed by Gaia U. founder Andy Langford which has been offering action learning Applied Permaculture Diplomas since 1993.
It was at a 2004 meeting at Findhorn Ecovillage that Andy Langford and Liora Adler met and began to envision the expansion of the Permaculture Diploma WorkNet project into a global learning community that would include all of the curricula of the movements in which they are active. The founders of Gaia University have had extensive involvement with the ecovillage, permaculture, bioregional, consensus, facilitation and eco-health social change activities for the past 30 years. These movements are part of a long history of pioneer ecological and social justice thinking reaching well back through the 1930's, the 1890's and further to the 1600's.
A quite special synchronicity opened the accreditation pathway and the current Gaia University was born. Gaia University was incorporated in Colorado, USA, in October of 2004 as a non-profit corporation.
Along with offering leading-edge, passion-led, action learning degree paths that fully support world changers/social artists creating innovative sustainable solutions, Gaia U is committed to making higher education both accessible and affordable.
Join us to see if Gaia University and Action Learning are right for you!

Lecture: The Inner Smile Alchemical Approach To Healing, Creativity and Change
With Alexander Alexis
$5-20 Suggested Donation - Everyone Welcome
Presentation Description:
Everything new is conceived in an inner space of openness where normal, linear thinking limited by preoccupation with the past, the future, and circumstances is suspended and the visionary mind characterized by holistic, possibility thinking is spawned. This focus of awareness can be consciously accessed when we align with Source energy. The Inner Smile Alchemical Approach, drawn from ancient Daoist practices, is the natural conduit to the energy of the Source. When practicing the Inner Smile we open up inner space the same way the Universe opens more outer space to form new stars in - out of nothing. This is the space in which healing, creativity and change occur spontaneously and without effort. We do not make the changes, life does, by virtue of our alignment and willingness.
Join visionary Alexander Alexis for this conversation about the lifeforce and learn how you can co-operate with it to experience changes, have healing and create new things the way nature does - spontaneously, out of nothing. An Inner Smile meditation/journey will be conducted at the end of the talk.
Some of the scientifically validated practical results from this are:
-Greatly reduced stress, deeper relaxation and more balanced energy
-Greatly accelerated healing processes, and health and wellbeing in general
-Greatly enhanced creativity, sense of self-worth, connection with all things
Presenter's Biography:
Alexander Alexis' private counseling practice in Ashland is a distillation of over thirty years of richly eclectic experience in healing and personal growth. He is dedicated to helping people align with their true nature and create the changes they want to have. He is a chi gung and Daoist Internal Alchemy adept, having studied with internationally recognized Daoist scholar and master Michael Winn since 1998. Alexander is also a highly diversified artist with specialties in writing, sculpture, painting, singing and cooking. He has had private practices in Boston, MA, Sedona, AZ, Asheville, NC, and Santa Fe, NM.
