Lecture: A Return to Ancient Healing Techniques- Bringing Eastern Thought into Western Practice
By Ann & Clark Zimmerman
$5.00 - 20.00 Suggested donation, everyone welcome
Presentation Description:
Western Medical practices have increasingly targeted symptoms of disease and illness and moved away from treating the whole person. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) aims to instead treat the root of an ailment, to balance the body, mind and spirit and allow for deep, sustainable healing. At a time when so many people are waking up to unhealthy practices within our culture (fast food, global warming, toxins) there's a willingness to explore other options-we propose the best ones aren't necessarily new. TCM, a system of healing based on over 3000 years of practice and observation, has stood the test of time. It's gaining popularity in our country due to its ability to manage pain and provide relief from chronic issues such as: insomnia, headaches, allergies, diarrhea/constipation, lowered immunity, fatigue, depression/anxiety, irregular menstruation, menopause, acid reflux, arthritis, cancer, stoke, high blood pressure, etc., all with few to no side effects.
Ann and Clark Zimmerman will talk about the healing benefits of Chinese Medicine and how an ancient healing practice from around the world can serve the greater health of our community here in Southern Oregon. They'll discuss the foundations of Chinese Medical theory: Yin and Yang, the five elements, and the eight principles, as well as the various components of this medicine: Acupuncture, Herbal Medicine, Asian (Shiatsu) Massage, Diet & Nutrition.
