Presentation Description:
Please join us for a holiday celebration with our special guest, astronomer Richard Moeschl.
Astrologers spend lots of time looking at wheels, symbols and glyphs - we're often disconnected from the actual sky that is the source of our inspiration.
This evening Richard's topic is An Introduction to Astronomy for Astrologers. It will be a fine opportunity to see how the night sky translates into the astrological wheel. Richard will also discuss some of the recent space discoveries. Our knowledge of the cosmos is always expanding and astrology is continually being infused with new archetypes and myths. If you haven't heard Richard Moeschl, our local, highly-entertaining lover-of-the-stars, you're in for a treat!
Presenter's Biography:
Richard Moeschl is the author of the astronomy book "Exploring the Sky" published by Chicago Review Press. He taught astronomy at Elderhostel and onboard educational cruise ships to Alaska and was president of the NightStar company which produced star maps. Richard founded and is Executive Director of Horizon Institute which explores the relationship between science, spirituality and the humanities. He is the Arts and Entertainment Editor of the Mail Tribune and the Ashland Daily Tidings and writes the weekly column "Bemused." A playwright, Richard won the 2006 Oregon Book Award for Drama for his play "Arthur's Dreams" which was produced in Ashland at Oregon Stage Works. He is often invited to lecture on the connections between astronomy and the celebration of seasonal festivals.
