Jerry Pashen
Free Lecture: Grid Power 2010- A Vision of Sustainable, Non-Polluting Energy for Everyone
By Jerry Paschen

Free admission, donations welcome

Presentation Description:

Jerry Paschen is a first class electrician and green party candidate. An electrical contractor since 1968, he managed the LW52 Project, a 750 Kw gearless turbine for the grid through his electrical company. In his latest venture with Windsong Energy Inc., he visualizes a society with a majority of its energy generated by wind and the parking lots are filled with electric rechargeable cars while their owners work and sleep.

Paschen points out that up to 15% of European countries' power is wind generated, Oregon is 5th in the nation but still generates around 41% of its electricity from burning coal. Oregon, with a population of 3 million plus, has 1585 Mw on the grid, which is very impressive. Conservation of electrical power and learning to use renewable energy like wind, which leaves a small footprint on our planet, and CO2 emission reduction projects are a must! Paschen states that we don't have to go back to the "stone age" to live a more sustainable lifestyle; rather, we should look more into the future.

One advantage of harnessing wind power is that it takes less than a year to put up a turbine, while a coal burning plant could take up to 10 years with planning, engineering and construction. Another advantage, a turbine can pay for itself in only four years, or a 24 year life expectancy.

Ashland has a good wind power potential, there is a place for a 3.8 Mw wind farm. He is looking 3 years down the road for investors.

Paschen grew up in Berlin, where he believes his fascination with electricity began, as he regularly rode the electric street car, which he recalls, "takes off like a rocket."

The Staff & Volunteers of RVML Present:

First Friday Art Walk in Ashland's Railroad District

Opens First Friday, April 2, 5:00-8:00 pm
Exhibit runs April 3-30, 10-6 Daily

April Art Exhibit: Local and Global Handmade Treasures from
L'atelier Annabel Lee Gallery
& Indika Imports

Exhibit Description:

RVML is pleased to welcome our neighbors in the A Street Atrs Building; Indika Imports and L'atelier Annabel Lee Gallery for an exhibit of local and global handmade treasures, crafts, fine art and clothing.

Indika Imports is an Indian imports store. Although their primary business is wholesaling to retailers nationwide, owners Travis Luther and Farinaz Wadia have also opened Indika to the public. One of Indika's best selling items is their colorful Prosperity Hens. Co-owner Farinaz Wadia said, "They are made in the desert in Rajasthan, which is in North India, by women who have set up their own cooperative of handicrafts there. Hens symbolize prosperity to the women who make these ornaments. They make the hens from scraps of leftover fabric, embellish them with silver and glass beads and then tie a hand-made goat bell at the end."

Indika is different from other import stores because it only carries items from India "Our selection is very unique. Every item we sell is entirely made by hand, and fairly traded," Wadia said. "We travel to India each year to select items and to make sure that the money we send there goes to the source we intend for it to go. Quality is most important to us. We also focus on the origin of each item, such as whether the women are free to work in their own homes or not, or if they work in a factory, what the working conditions are like."

L'atelier Annabel Lee Gallery is a creative, one-of-a-kind children's clothing store. Annabel Allen opened her store in December because she said she couldn't find any "fun" clothes for her two young sons. Frustrated, Allen began making clothes and blankets with the sewing machine her grandmother had left her. Because she received so many compliments on the clothing she made for her own sons, she realized there was a potential market for good quality, unique children's clothing in Ashland.

One of her favorite items in the store is her "Angel-Wing Onesies." "They make great baby-shower gifts," said Allen of the tiny white onesies with soft, iridescent wings sewn onto the back. "We can put an angel-wing onesie into a large golden egg then wrap a taggie blanket around it like a nest. The gift is ready to go." Allen says she loves to help create personalized gifts. She can also make favorite photos into decorated pillows or take an old sweater and create something new out of it, like children's leggings. Allen prides her store on whimsical and fun items; organic cotton girls' tops with big silk flower sleeves or a skirt with a pattern that, upon closer inspection, reveals jumping green frogs.

About the Exhibitors:

Farinaz Wadia grew up in India and left in 1992 when she was 21. She and her husband lived in Washington before settling in Ashland with their 8-year-old daughter, Aisha. She says their decision to open an import store in Ashland grew out of a love for her native Indian culture and because the people here in Ashland appreciate beauty and quality.

After receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater at Southern Oregon University, Annable Allen said she originally wanted to be an improv comedian. "I started at Second City in Chicago then performed at Improv Olympic in L.A.," said Allen. "While we were in L.A., I was the first to create 'cigar box purses' which Fred Segal carried for eight years. My purses were even shown in magazines being carried by celebrities. But, once we had Milo and Egan, life very happily became about my children."

Free Workshop: Transformative Energetic Transmission- Awakening to a Higher Vibration
An Experiential Evening with Dr. Jane Katra

7:00-9:00pm (Doors close at 7:30 pm)

Free admission- donations welcome

Presentation Description:

"All that we can know of a person is the quality of his or her energy as it demonstrates in force and activity." -Alice Bailey, 1928

Jane Katra, in a near-death experience in 1974, was given the gift of radiatory healing: transmitting high vibrational healing energy and enabling people to directly experience that they also naturally radiate fields of power. Eckhart Tolle calls these fields of alive presence our "Power of Now." These palpable vibrations promote experiences of profound loving and peace, emotional and physical healing, and the awakening and deepening of the realization of our true nature.

Much like a transistor, Dr. Katra attunes to an intensified frequency that allows participants to experience extraordinary shifts in consciousness while transmitting powerful healing energy. Please join us in unfolding the mystery of being human together as we help lift the consciousness of the world.

Presenter's Biography:

Jane Katra, Ph.D., taught public health at the University of Oregon in the 1980's. Dr. Katra has also practiced as a spiritual healer since 1974, after receiving instructions in a near-death experience. She is coauthor with physicist Russell Targ of the books Miracles of Mind: Exploring Nonlocal Consciousness and Spiritual Healing, and The Heart of the Mind. Her work has been featured in Reinventing Medicine by Larry Dossey, and in Science of Mind, Natural Health, & Spirituality and Health. She presents worldwide.

Presentation Description:

We are no longer in the new age. The tools and techniques that served their purpose until now, are no longer applicable and many of us have been experiencing confusion and a feeling of being adrift as these old models elude us.

Join us in lively, open discussion, as we explore the new playing field and support one another in moving forward in this post New Age era. It is possible to be informed by much deeper aspects of our being that have nothing to do with the mind and conceptual living. By accessing this deeply wise, intelligence of the heart-field, we can open to a new way of being and living in the world. But how do we live in the moment to such a degree that we are available to the language of these fields?

During these community forums hosted by Stephen Victor, we will investigate ways to access this new language and explore the various tools necessary to navigate these times of rapid change. This invitation is free and open to anyone wishing to explore the exciting pathway that extends before us. We look forward to welcoming you.

Cost: $6.00, General Public, $5.00 Seniors (62+), $4.00 NCGR Members

Events happen monthly, every third Monday 7-9pm at RVML (except July and August)

Presentation Description:

"Wheels of Light": Compasses, Wheels and Maps- the kind used by navigators, traditional Native American culture and Western Astrology.

Compasses, with the assistance of sextants, have been used by ancient mariners to figure magnetic north, since the Iron Age (pre 1,000 B.C.).

Medicine wheels, oriented to the eastern point of ascension on the horizon, are mirrors of solar path upon the earth that are used in healing ceremony
and meditation.

Astrologers map the light of the heavens in relation to a human's date, place and time of birth. This use of celestial correspondence displays a map of the human soul that can be interpreted backwards and forwards in time using the origination point of birth. All circles that follow the path of the sun are divination tools that have been used for as long as recorded history.

Presenter's Biography:

Marty Dixon is an Evolutionary Astrologer who has counseled, applying Jeffrey Wolf Green's teachings, for 20 years. She is a 'Fixed Stars' practitioner, employing Bernadette Brady's visual astrology approach to mapping the night sky. She is a lecturer for "Astrology in Ashland" and a columnist for the "Sedona Journal of Emergence". She teaches shamanic journeying so that everyone may be better able to 'see' for themselves.

Workshop: Healing By Sounds
With Maha Conyers

Cost: $10.00 or $25.00 for 3-session series. CD available for purchase.

Tue. April 20, 7-9pm- Introduction to the Healing Sounds for the inner organs
Tue. April 27, 7-9pm- Your Birthdate and its Healing Sounds
Tue. May 4, 7-9pm- How Colors and Sounds reflect specific states of consciousness

Workshop Description:

The Maui Center for Tibetan Pulsing Healing invites you to an introductory talk and experience of the transformative power of sounds and overtones made by
the human voice. The Healing Sounds presented are originally part of Arican System of the 24 Inner Lights. They were used to initiate states of enlightenment and universal love by the Tibetan masters who had an exact knowledge of how sound produces the way we perceive reality.

Sounds constitute a formative force for our body/mind and open direct pathways into the inner organs. During this evening participants will have a chance to experience how the vocalizing of specific sounds can often lead to a considerable shift in general well-being, relaxation & feelings of reconnection with Source.
