My name is Stephanie Ryden and I am a professional photographer. I love pet photography, family portraits, levitation photography, and capturing special moments of meaningful interactions.
In an effort to be trauma-aware, I am creating Professional Face Presentations (instead of “head shots”.)
My father left this world when I was 10 months old. My mother did everything. She was a teacher, a waitress, an investor, and a handyman. I grew up in the era of women’s liberation and was told I could be anything I wanted to be. I wanted to be a scientist, but now I am satisfied to study light and the way it illuminates shapes and textures.
I was fiercely independent as a young woman, and have always had an intense curiosity about people. I see the beauty in everyone, and I bring it out in my pictures of them so they and their loved ones can see it, too.
The only camera in the house was my dad’s old camera. He was a photographer (as a hobby) and had photographed my older sisters a lot before he became ill with cancer. My mother learned to operate it and she documented all of our birthdays with it, but didn’t have time or money (film was expensive) to bring it out just for fun or family picnics as my father would have.
Now, as an adult I have a caretaker’s spirit. I look after people to keep them safe. I have a moral responsibility to use the talent I have inherited from my father to do good deeds. I practice portrait photography because I love to be a mirror for people and show them their best and most beautiful selves.
I want to use my skills to be a powerful force in healing my community and making it a good place to live. I also want to help individuals by making sure they have family photographs as their lives progress.
Please contact me to schedule a time slot on Saturday, April 22 at RVML to help you update your professional image.
