Fasting is the intentional act of abstaining from eating and sometimes drinking. While fasting has become popular in recent years as a health-promoting lifestyle choice, it is a practice with millennia of history, deeply rooted in many spiritual traditions. Our ancestors have been fasting for thousands of years and modern research is just starting to reveal its power.
In this presentation, Dr. Michael Hummel will review the current research behind the many types of fasting and fast-mimicking diets (Ketogenic, caloric restriction, etc.). He will also explore the profound effects fasting can have on our health and many aspects of our being.
Dr. Michael Hummel is a naturopathic physician specializing in integrative oncology and chronic infectious disease (including Lyme disease), with additional areas of focus in botanical medicine, nutrition, bioidentical hormone therapies, family medicine, healthy aging, and naturopathic adjustments/physical medicine. Dr. Hummel combines Mederi Care methodology with naturopathic principles to unravel complex health issues and support patients in creating positive, long-term changes in health. He conducts his practice out of Mederi Center in Ashland.
