Lecture: Confronting the Problem of Hazardous Waste in Oregon Fertilizers
by David Monk

All Tueday evening events at
RVML are FREE ADMISSION

Presentation Description:

Oregon fertilizer companies routinely recycle hazardous industrial waste, introducing several dozen toxic metals and chemicals into our farm, lawn and garden soils. The toxic substances pose a serious health risk to humans and animals that come into contact with the contaminated fertilizer or eat certain vegetables grown in treated soil. State waterways and the aquatic life they harbor are also threatened through the run-off from erosion.

Manufacturing industries sell their hazardous waste to fertilizer companies in order to avoid the cost of disposal according to federal guidelines. In the five years between 1990 and 1995, Oregon companies sent nearly 26 million pounds of industrial chemicals to fertilizer companies and farms. This alarming practice has been going on for at least twenty years with no sign of slowing down.

The state of Oregon has established limits for five heavy metals in fertilizer based on a human health risk assessment done by consultants working for the fertilizer industry. No independent research has been done to confirm the assumptions made in this risk assessment. The long term impact to human and environmental health from the build up of toxic substances in our soils is unknown. We are all a part of an experiment that may well prove disastrous for the health of our farm soils, farm workers and consumers.

Oregon Toxics Alliance recommends that:

-The Oregon Department of Agriculture must consider the process of fertilizer manufacture as a food supply issue rather than a waste disposal issue.

-All fertilizers must be labeled to include information on derivation of the product and the presence of any toxic substance.

-All raw materials must be tested for toxic constituents before they are shipped to fertilizer companies.

-Farms whose soils have been treated with toxic waste-derived fertilizers must be monitored for leaching of materials from the cropland into the surrounding environment.

-Records of chemical use in soils must be filed with land deeds in order to inform and protect future purchasers.

-Any hazardous waste must be banned from fertilizer production.
Presenter's Biography:

David Monk is currently the Executive Director of Oregon Toxics Alliance a statewide grassroots organization working to eliminate unnecessary toxics use and contamination. He serves on the Board of the Independent Science Review Board operating in Lane County to provide scientific review of human health and environmental issues important to area residents. He was formerly a Board member of the local land use group Friends of Eugene and served for two years as a Steering Committee member with Citizens for Public Accountability.

Tiziana Rovere
Lecture: The Adorata Teachings-
The path of enlovement and
alchemical union from the
revelations of Divine Mary.

By Tiziana DellaRovere

All Tueday evening events at
RVML are FREE ADMISSION

Presentation Description:

"Mary" is the title given to a woman who embodies the alchemy of love. For a man "Mary" is the feminine Beloved in his heart."

In the course of the evening Tiziana will offer you the opportunity to experience the presence of Divine Mary in a non-religious context, and to reflect on Her alchemical teachings of sacred union of the feminine and masculine within. Such alchemy affects your intimate relationships as well as your relationship with yourself.

Tiziana will also share her own story of how she transformed herself through a near death experience that led her to tangibly connect with the world of the spirit. She will recount the journey that brought her to embrace the feminine spiritual path that culminated with her meeting the presence of Mother Mary.

The Adorata teachings are based on the path of enlovement which is the path of direct and personal connection with the Divine. It is the path of descending rather than ascending, transmuting rather than transcending, and embracing both matter and spirit rather than separating them. Expect this event to be both mind expanding and heart opening.

Presenter's Biography:

Tiziana is an author, teacher, and mystic born and educated in Italy. After attending law school in Milan, she moved to the United States, where she graduated magna cum laude with a BFA in Sculpture and Painting from California College of Arts and Crafts.

As a result of a severe physical illness, she had a profound spiritual opening. After healing herself, she attended the masters program in Clinical Psychology at San Francisco State University and worked for one year as an intern at Berkeley Mental Health. Her spiritual path took her away from the traditional clinical model and she entered seminary and was ordained as an arch priest in the tradition of ancient Christianity.

Tiziana also comes from a personal heritage of Italian mystics. In her work, she combines a broad knowledge of in-depth psychology, her natural mystical nature, and the creative expression of movement and dance.

Teaching about the sacred union of the masculine and feminine, she has had extensive experience leading groups in the United States and Italy for the past twenty-eight years. Since 1999 Tiziana has been visited by the presence of Mother Mary. Her connection to Mother Mary opens people to directly experience their own relationship with Beloved Mother and to sense the Divine within themselves.

Writing in both Italian and English, she is the author of Sacred Fire: Rites of Passage and Rituals of Worship (Celestial Arts, Berkeley, 1996), Adorata, The Inner Politics of Love, and the Adorata Holy Cards, a beautiful illustrated set of five interactive decks of cards imparting Mother Mary's sacred teachings. She is also a prolific artist of sacred paintings.

What if we could change our energetic patterns and alignments at will? How would we be if we could drop old constricting patterns and move into greater levels of coherence and integration? Would we experience ourselves and the world as a more peaceful, harmonious and loving place?

Each of us is a pulsing field of frequency patterns, which can be aligned with negative or positive thoughts, attitudes and ideas. Good health, harmonious relationships and the success and pleasure we receive from our lives and work are determined by the state of our frequency patterns, which may be coherent (harmonious) or non-coherent. All our negative thoughts, feelings, difficult life experiences and relationships are the result of non-coherent frequency patterns.

ONE REMARKABLE METHOD FOR CHANGING OUR FREQUENCY PATTERNS AND DRAMATICALLY ALTERING THE COURSE OF OUR LIVES IS HOLOGRAPHIC REPATTERNING.

Holographic Repatterning is an empowering process for positive change which goes to the core of any problem by shifting the underlying energy attached to that issue. The process results in physical, emotional and mental well-being and enables people to resonate with and achieve positive intentions. It supports growth and harmony in relationships and the release of negative beliefs and attitudes that underlie challenges in any arena of life. It can be used to work with the past, present or future, with animals or plants, with groups and at a distance.

Developed by Chloe Faith Wordsworth over a 25 year period, Holographic Repatterning (HR) has spread quickly around the planet and has been transforming individuals and communities for two decades. HR is based on principles from physics and psychology as well as the ancient knowledge of the Chakra system of India and the Five Element-Meridian System of China. It incorporates healing modalities which are natural and non-invasive, such as sound, movement, light, color, music, breath work, aromatherapy and acupressure.

Presenter's Biography:

PAMELA JOY is a certified practitioner of Holographic Repatterning who hasbeen involved with this process for five years. Having studied and worked with a number of alternative healing modalities over the past thirty years, she finds HR the most immediate, effective and dramatic process for changing deep-seated patterns as well as for aligning ourselves with our positive intentions and visions. A resident of Ashland for twelve years, she has a private practice in HR for individuals and holds monthly group healing sessions which are open to everyone.

Independent Media in a Time of War
Free Video: "Independent Media In A Time Of War"

Description:

Part scathing critique, part call to action, "Independent Media In A Time Of War" is a hard-hitting new documentary by the Hudson Mohawk Independent Media Center http://www.hm.indymedia.org

This film is composed of a speech given by Amy Goodman, host of Democracy Now! illustrated by clips of mainstream media juxtaposed with rare footage from independent reporters in Iraq. The documentary argues that dialogue is vital to a healthy democracy. "Independent media has a crucial responsibility to go to where the silence is," says Amy Goodman, "to represent the diverse voices of people engaged in dissent." She makes a compelling argument that the commercial news media have failed to represent the "true face of war."

Goodman criticizes the refusal to report civilian war casualties during the 2003 Iraq invasion and the new phenomenon of " embedded reporters," as examples of a pro-military bias in the corporate media.

Running time: 30 minutes.

Additional Feature: "Crashing the Stock Market," an inside look at the World Economic Forum with Amy Goodman. Includes the questioning of authorities such as the EPA Director, and head of the Asia Society, as well as interviews with protesters outside.

Running time: 25 minutes.

We will also show a short sample of the award-winning journalism of the "Democracy Now!" news program, and hold discussion at the end of the films.

The Presenters : The Campaign for "Democracy Now!" on Jefferson Public Radio is a collective effort to have our public media provider expand it's National & World news content and include first- hand independent reporting, investigative journalism, and a forum for perspectives of peace and dissent.

Critical questions and information about the state of our current political & economic system happen to be significantly missing from the many corporate & government backed news programs that dominate our region. Within this presentation we welcome your involvement to call for the freedom of information and a more comprehensive picture of National & World news on our public airwaves.

We will host a variety of ways for citizens and organizations to contribute to this endeavor. The local Campaign For "Democracy Now!" news is currently growing into a regional effort in Southern Oregon and Northern California. We look forward to hosting you for this free event.
