Ashland Constitutional Dialogue #3-
How do you Choose to be Governed in Ashland?-
Creating a Holistic Model of Government

Requested Donation

Description:

The City of Ashland is re-writing our Charter -- our city's Constitution! -- from the ground up!

The Ashland Charter is the official transfer of legal and decision making powers from We The People to the corporation known as City of Ashland. It's the most important document in town. It's the job of We The People to decide what we want in OUR Charter. We have an historic opportunity to create and bring into reality here in Ashland a higher form of Democratic Republic that balances the "yin" of Democracy, the energy that creates the conditions for freedom and equality, with the "yang" of Republic, the energy that creates decision making structures that foster order and responsibility (the result is intended to be a replicatable model applicable to all levels of government.)

The growing number of "empowered citizens" engaged in the iterative dialogue/door-to-door survey process are evolving this holistic model for a Democractic Republic to include a "Citizens Branch" of government currently called at this level a Citizen Participation Plan, and other practical innovations.

Dialogue #1 and #2 have been a big success! We'll build on that design for Dialogue #3: small groups dialogue on specific Constitutional ammendments. Then you help build the ballot through a special survey.
