This presentation will primarily be an experiential exploration of the three core skills of emotional intimacy : Understanding, Caring and Being-With. We will apply these to the spiritual practice of being in the present moment. These same skills are the foundation of emotional intimacy with ourselves and others. Come ready to learn and grow and enjoy the evening.

There are three primary spheres of relationship in our lives: with ourselves, with others and with our higher power. Emotional intimacy and openness with yourself allows you to be open to lasting spiritual experience. When we are closed or defensive with ourselves or others, this undermines our connection with our higher power. Correcting this and being open requires feeling safe - and this requires that we take our fears and defensiveness seriously and address them.

Many spiritual traditions do not factor the psychological foundation of developing emotional intimacy with oneself and others into their practices. As a consequence, it is common to meet people on the spiritual path who are critical of themselves and who have relationship challenges with others. Creating intimacy is a skill based on specific attitudes and behaviors that most of us have never learned. In this evening, you will identify and practice some of these skills. For most people, this is easier than you think. As you develop these skills, your sense of safety and openness in the three realms will blossom and your enjoyment of life will increase.

Presenter's Biography:

Nando Raynolds, M.A. is well known in the Rogue Valley, having worked here as a psychotherapist, life coach, and T¹ai Chi and Chi Kung instructor for the last 17 years. Nando is known for his warmth and good humor. His presentations are fun, clear and transformative.

Presentation Description:

The Solar Healing Center is focused on helping humanity to develop a better understanding of how the sun can be used to heal the mind, body and spirit as demonstrated by Hira Ratan Manek, who, as a result of sungazing, has not eaten solid food for over 9 years.

Hira Ratan Manek (HRM), among others, have proven that a person can live just on solar energy for very long periods without eating any food. This has come to be known as the HRM phenomenon. The method is used for curing all kinds of psychosomatic, mental and physical illnesses as well as increasing memory power and mental strength by using sunlight. One can get rid of any kind of psychological problems, and develop confidence to face any problem in life and can overcome any kind of fear including that of death within 3 months after starting to practice this method. As a result, one will be free from mental disturbances and fear, which will result in a perfect balance of mind. If one continues to apply the proper sungazing practice for 6 months, they will be free from physical illnesses. After he retired, he began to research and study the ancient practice of sun gazing in which he had been interested in since his childhood. This method was an old but forgotten method, which had been practiced, in the ancient times in many different parts of the world.

Sun energy is the source that powers the brain, which can enter and leave the human body or the brain only through one organ that is the human eye. Eyes are the Sun Energy's entry door to the human brain. They are also known as the windows of the soul. Recent research has found out that the eye has many functions other than vision. And more information is continuing to be revealed about the functions of the eye. The eyes are complex organs and they have 5 billion parts much more than a spacecraft that has about 6-7 million parts. By this, you can see the immense capacity of the human eye.

HRM asserts that the rainbow is in the eye not in the sky. The seven colors of the sun is only the reflection of what is in the eye. We can create a rainbow anytime we want go to the garden, just observe below a source of flowing water as the sun moves above. There you will see the rainbow. Eye can receive the entire spectrum of the sunlight. It's like having a glass window. Eye is the perfect instrument to receive all the colors of the rainbow. Since eyes are delicate parts of the body, we have to use them in such a way that they serve our purposes without getting damaged. Present day teachings and ideas such as don't look at the sunlight at all --you will damage your eyesight; never go out in the sun as you will get cancer, are causing needless hysteria and paranoia. The more you are away from the nature, the more there is a cause for illness and you will automatically support global corporations. There are definite foolproof ways of getting the benefits of the nature without exposing ourselves to it
s adverse effects. It is also as intuitive as when the clouds gather we become gloomy. When we see the sun, we feel energetic.

Workshop Description:

WHAT IS DIKSHA? You are invited to receive diksha, the transmission of enlightenment energy that activates the flow of divine grace. It is an intelligent flow of cosmic energy that restructures the physical brain, balancing the activity of the two hemispheres, and leads to the flowering of the heart. This in turn creates a shift in perception where the sense of a separate self is realized to be an illusion, and you realize your oneness with all creation, with God.

We have been taught to see enlightenment as the ultimate goal of our spiritual journey. It is a mythical, almost unattainable state of cosmic consciousness that can only happen after enormous struggle, lifetimes of spiritual practice, and much discipline and self-sacrifice. All this is no longer necessary, indeed it never was.

There is an avatar in India known as Kalki Bhagavan who is demonstrating that enlightenment is not something to be achieved through lifetimes of effort, rather it is a shift in perception that can be permanently and irreversibly activated through a neuro-biological shift in our brains. It is a biological rather than a spiritual event, and can be experienced by anybody. Indeed, he maintains that Earth's golden age has now begun, and that everyone on Earth is destined to become enlightened by the year 2012 AD.

The process is initiated through what is known as the 'diksha', when someone who has received and integrated this energy and then been trained to transmit it, places their hands on your head, and activates the seed of divine intelligence in your crown chakra.


Presenters' Biographies:

Diane Kelly is a healer and teacher who lives in Mill Valley, CA. She has three children. Her warmth, love and kindness is evident the moment you meet her. She holds the energy of the mother and the goddess. The comments about her own personal practice are many and with high praise. We are all excited to have her here in Ashland and Eugene.


For over thirty years, Richard Tunkel had been pursuing what was for him that elusive goal of spiritual practice, enlightenment. He had been involved with numerous and varied practices, including Zen/Chan Buddhism, Advaita Vedanta, Taijiquan, Dzogchen in the Nyingmapa tradition, and Taoism. While living in Queens, New York, he gained introduction into Bhagavan's Dharma through an unexpected resource. He had been looking at crystals on eBay and came across a Satyaloka quartz. In reading the description of the item, Richard became aware of Bhagavan and eventually his mission in India and for the world. This led to his involvement in the Movement.

Not long after participating in retreats in the USA, he went to India for a Teacher Training Program. Then in January 2004, he attended the first 21 Day Process for westerners, receiving numerous Dikshas from the Dasajis, and subsequently the Diksha enabling him to transmit Bhagavan's energy to others. He was so inspired that he left his full-time employment in health care in order to have more time to work for the Dharma. He last visited India and the Golden City earlier this year, receiving additional Dikshas and teachings. He continues to be involved in what is now called the Oneness Movement, helping give workshops and Dikshas. He no longer searches for the spiritual goal of the past, as he now knows there is nothing for which to search.

Presentation Description:

For decades now interfaith dialogue means having a panel of scholars and religious leaders sitting together and sharing what is good about each of their faiths. Rabbi David's rebbe, Reb Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, offers an approach appropriate for the emerging paradigm. The approach is called "radical ecumenism." It requires members of faith traditions to honestly access their own religions and acknowledge where they need help, rescue, support, and aid from practitioners of another faith. For example, can the Jewish people be of help to Tibetan Buddhists who have been exiled from their own nation? Do Buddhists have a special message and techniques for Christians, Muslims, and Jews?

Join us as Rabbi David shares dozens of unusual, humorous, and inspiring anecdotes of some of the forms of radical ecumenical contact that he has been involved with over the past decade.


Presenter's Biography:

Rabbi David Zaslow was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1947. He was ordained in 1995 by Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi under the supervision and mentorship of Rabbi Aryeh Hirschfeld. In 2003 he completed his term as a Spiritual Advisor to ALEPH, the umbrella organization of the Jewish Renewal movement. Before his ordination he served as a rabbinic intern for the Jewish communities Crescent City, CA, Bend, OR, and Redding, CA.

During his years as a poet-in-the-schools for the southern Oregon region, David Zaslow wrote and edited more than a dozen of books of poetry as well as two albums of children's music for publishers like Good Apple; Harcourt Brace Javanovich; and Scott Foresman. In the late 1970s David, along with partner Steve Sacks, co-created what became the Peter Britt Jazz Festival by bringing jazz legends like Dave Brubeck, Count Basie, Dizzie Gillespie, Woodie Herman, and dozens of other jazz greats to southern Oregon for the first time. Along with poet Lawson Inada, in 1988 he was awarded an American Book Award for educational materials for a project he co-produced featuring Steve Allen and Jayne Meadows to music composed by Patti McCoy.

Rabbi David also teaches Bible and spirituality in classes at Southern Oregon University's Elderhostel program, and leads Shabbaton weekends and retreats for Jewish Renewal communities throughout the United States. Today Rabbi David is completing a series of books that he has been working on for many years: on Jewish meditation & Kabbalah; interfaith relations with Christianity; on the poetry of the Tenakh (Bible); and a collection of his own poetry.
