Crop Circles from a Scientific Viewpoint: A discussion group interested in examining closely the evidence which either supports or contradicts the idea that crop circles are all man-made. The intention is cover the evidence in depth, with thoroughness taking priority over time constraints, meeting regularly for an indefinite period of time at the Rogue Valley Metaphysical Library.
The workshop is organized by Ted Clay, a local statistician and crop circle skeptic who was interviewed by National Geographic Channel for the recent program titled "Is It Real: Crop Circles". The content will be any material he and the participants decide is important and relevant. People with some background in science are encouraged to join, and everyone is welcome. Participants are encouraged to bring their own books, videos, photos and other source material on crop circles.
Topics will include:
* Watching classic and current crop circle videos.
* Examining the strange sound recorded in crop circles.
* Viewing of Colin Andrews slide show "The Assessment" of crop circles during 1999 and 2000.
* Close examination of evidence of hoaxing in crop circle photographs.
* Watching interviews with hoaxers.
* Understanding the work of BLT Research on plant nodes, soil properties and metallic deposits.
* Cellular changes in crop circle plants.
* Allegedly unhoaxable crop formations.
* The appearance of the Stonehenge Julia formation of 1996.
* Electromagnetic phenomena.
* Claimed psychic causing of crop circle patterns.
* Pre-hoaxing origins of crop circles.
* Videos of "balls of light" associated with crop circles.
The ethical values of mutual respect and intellectual honesty will be the standard which we will strive to uphold throughout this investigation.
