Lecture: The Power of the Heart
By Catherine J. Larkin

$5.00 - 20.00 Suggested donation, everyone welcome, no one turned away

Presentation Description:

The esoteric levels of the Heart offer the grace, unifying power, and life giving love that we need. Sometimes the heart is trivialized, but in truth the Heart is the "Doorway to Everything," the magnetic center that deepens into the vastness of all.

My work, no matter how varied it seems on the surface, is unified through the underlying heart focus. Drawing on my own experience and a variety of teachings, we will honor our humanity through exploring the full potential of the spiritual Heart.
Join me in calling forth the greatness of the human spirit through this amazing portal.

Presenter's Bigoraphy:

Catherine Jane Larkin, M.A., has 24 years experience as a healer, teacher and counselor. In 1989 she was certified in Self Attunement, which facilitates healing at the individual soul level. In 2002 this was extended to working with the family soul through the Bert Hellinger Family Constellations. Catherine is a gifted public speaker and synthesizes from many sources.

Born in Iowa in 1952, Catherine's life long commitment to serving humanity has taken various forms. She has benefited from numerous teachers, including A. H. Almaas, Don Kolmar, Helen Luke, Marion Woodman, Adi Da, Gangaji, Catherine Ingram, Stan Grof, the SFA community, and the Steps to Knowledge program. She graduated from Matthew Foxe's Institute of Creation Centered Spirituality in 1983. Her articles have been published in Conscious Choice magazine in Chicago.

Catherine has traveled extensively to work with planetary energies, including 18 months in the United Kingdom, where her ancestral roots lie. She invites you to share her vision of calling forth the goodness of the human heart and accessing ancestral wisdom to be caretakers of the earth.

Free Discussion: "Steps to Knowledge"
With Catherine J. Larkin

Free admission, donations appreciated.

Description:

The evolution of our planet now requires a deeper and more comprehensive understanding from us. We need a context in which to actually see what is happening.
Our world is emerging into a Greater Community of intelligent life and is already being 'visited' by several alien races. This presents both tremendous challenges and a great opportunity. To realize the potential for good in this situation requires a growth toward a higher consciousness called "Knowledge."

"Steps to Knowledge" takes you on the great journey of discovering Self Knowledge, the mysterious source of your inner power and authority. Following Knowledge within leads you to the essential relationships that you will need to find and to fulfill your mission in life.

It provides the lessons and practices necessary for learning and living The Way of Knowledge. Presented in a self-study format, it contains 365 daily steps that teach you how to see, to know and to act with the certainty and the authority that the Creator has given you. It is the consummate study in Inner Knowing.

"Steps to Knowledge" is for people who are ready to undertake their greater work in life and who realize that they are here to make a contribution to the world at this critical turning point in our history. This book is here to serve them.

Many people are feeling a call to fulfill a purpose for which we took birth. Whatever our individual role may be, we need to understand the challenge we are faced with to see the way forward that is true. May we support one another in this endeavor.

Facilitator's Biography:

Catherine Jane Larkin, M.A., has been a student of the Steps to Knowledge program since 1990. She began as a social activist in the 1970's, and then turned to spiritual practice and psychological study as the means by which to help the world. Graduating from the Institute of Creation Centered Spirituality in 1983, her quest for consciousness turned to numerous teachers and teachings, including Adi Da, holotropic breathwork, A. H. Almaas, Society for Ascension, Gangaji, Burt Hellinger, and others. She became a soul level healer through the Complete Self Attunement training, and this work has now evolved into planetary healing.

For the past 7 years, Catherine has traveled extensively, including 18 months in the UK, where her ancestral ties reside and deepened her awareness of earth energies. Through all of this time, the essays of the Greater Community Way of Knowledge and the Steps to Knowledge have informed her understanding. After seeing the recent remake of the movie War of the Worlds, she was moved to reach out to the Ashland community to share a perspective of wisdom on this misrepresented topic.

Note: RVML's library contains several copies of "Allies of Humanity", "Steps to Knowledge" and many other books and videos by Marshal Summers.

Workshop: It's All In Your Hands and Your Heart
By Valerie Muroki

$5 General Admission; $4 for Seniors (62+)

Workshop Description:

Rather than believing other people hold the keys to our health and wellbeing, we can learn to use what we already have -- our hands and our hearts (our good-hearted intent) -- to heal ourselves and support our loved ones. Valerie, an advanced practitioner of The TARA Approach, will share an overview of this always growing and vital way of treating our disharmonies and illnesses that combines ancient Eastern energy medicine, called Jin Shin, and modern Western neuropsychology and the latest understanding of shock and trauma. She will help solve the seeming mysteries of our bodies' energy meridians and help you experience treating your meridians through your hands.

Presenter's Biography:

Valerie Muroki has practiced the Tara Approach, Jorei, hypnotherapy or other healing modalities over most of the 30+ years she lived on Maui. A recent Ashland transplant, she eagerly offers to share her knowledge and experience, both as a teacher and an Advanced Practitioner of the Tara Approach.

Valerie has been deeply involved in her community as a court-appointed special advocate for abused and neglected children and a facilitator for family decision making sessions, which include members of Child Protective Services and service providers for the families. She has headed a youth service center on Maui, trained teenagers to be peer mediators, and taught English as a Second Language. As an investigative reporter for a local newspaper she won an award for a series of articles spotlighting the misdeeds of a developer. These and other careers, after she spent an adventurous two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ghana, have made for a rich and rewarding life.

Lecture: Clearing the Air Between Men and Women
By Gordon Clay and Shauna Wilson Mora

$5.00 - 20.00 Suggested donation, everyone welcome, no one turned away

Presentation Description:

Join Shauna and Gordon for an introductory evening. In this energetic presentation we will move through various emotions, patterns, and belief systems which may block greater intimacy with ourselves and with others.

If we are to survive and thrive as a society and community, men and women need to honor and appreciate each other's power, shadows and dreams. By clearing our energy of old hurts, we can reach a level of deep, authentic, open-hearted, non-sexual intimacy and feel safe on a cellular level. With this sense of trust we can choose to join with the other sex from a place of grounded joy. When we let go of control and allow ourselves to set relationships straight we clear the air and realize that we are each a unique thread from the same tapestry called life.

Presenters' Biographies:

Gordon Clay has been a leader in the Men's Movement since 1976 and has been designing workshops for almost 30 years. He is especially known for developing a movement and breath work system for the safe and healthy expression of anger and rage in a non-violent way. He specializes in appropriate emotional release to integrate the un-conscious mind and body.

These gifts have been used for over 20 years in his Healing the Father Wound and Clearing the Air intensive workshops. (clearingtheair.net) Gordon has been co-chair of the National Organization for Men against Sexism, is a prostrate cancer survivor and has made numerous television and radio appearances including Oprah and Hour magazine. Initiated in 1990 as a New Warrior, Gordon has staffed 13 trainings and two inside Folsom Prison which helped direct his work toward ending men's isolation. The Menstuff magazine that he started in 1982 and converted in 1996 has become the largest web site in the world on men¹s issues, with over 100,000 hits a day. For fun, over the last seven years, he uses his skills as Papa DJ at Burning Man and elsewhere.

Shauna Wilson Mora has been a group leader for over twenty years. As a brilliant psychodrama facilitator she has designed seminars for men and women to heal deeply ingrained inner wounds. Shauna was certified as a leader for Woman Within International and has facilitated women's weekends and Empowerment Circles from coast to coast. She has been co-leading the Clearing the Air series with Gordon Clay for nearly a decade. (clearingtheair.net) Shauna is known for her spectacular ability to assist organizations and individuals in identifying and realizing their goals. As a Mediator for the City of Palo Alto, California, she currently serves as the Chair of the Human Relations Commission and is also the Manager of Facilitation Programs for the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center.

Praise for Gordon and Shauna:

Bill Kauth says "The brilliant, progressive risk structure of Gordon and Shauna's work sets the stage for heart opened learning in a short time. Last year, I did the entire series and heartily recommend them."

Renee Riley-Adams says "Through working with Gordon I was able to loosen my grip on the Ultimate Father Fantasy and anchor forgiveness and freedom in my body. Letting go of my unhealthy views of the masculine allowed me to embrace my husband and father, and to better understand other men. I am also able to more fully appreciate and accept my own masculine and feminine."

Dennis Mead-Shikaly says "Our wounds anchor deeply into our thought forms and our emotions. But most significantly, they take residence in the body. Gordon's work centers around moving the stagnant energy out of the body better than any I have ever experienced. I finally cleared my "father" out of my body, once and for all."

Astrology in Ashland Lecture Series: "America: An Astrological Portrait"
By Doug Kellogg

Presented by: "Astrology in Ashland"- The Southern Oregon Chapter of the
National Council for Geocosmic Research (SONCGR*)

$5, General Public, $4 Seniors (62+), $3 SONCGR Member

Meets every third Monday of the month at RVML

Lecture Description:

The Scottish poet Robert Burns wished for the gift to see ourselves as others see us. This is difficult for human beings, and even more difficult for countries, a conundrum for which astrology provides an answer. By looking at the natal chart of the United States, we are able to see the country as it really is, and not as we have been conditioned to see it throughout our lifetime. After a brief discussion of the birthday of the country and of some of the common controversies of astrology - signs, houses, aspects and orbs - Doug will cover the four outlooks and twelve characteristics of the United States as depicted in its natal chart, those that show the United States as really is, and also how it thinks it is. Free Showing of "The Secret": You have the power within you to shape your destiny.

Presented FREE on Saturday, March 24 at 3:00pm and Sunday, March 25 at 2:00pm

Description:

Not really a movie or documentary, The Secret is more of a video seminar, a presentation featuring a series of authors, philosophers, doctors, quantum physicists, entrepreneurs, and spiritual practitioners expounding on the powers of The Secret (probably the most well-known of the presenters is Jack Canfield, author of Chicken Soup for the Soul and The Success Principles). What is The Secret, exactly? "That principle can be summed up in three simple words: thoughts become things," proclaims writer Mike Dooley, author of Notes from the Universe. Put it another way, it's The Power of Positive Thinking and how it can be applied to attracting more money, better health, and relationships; in short, happiness.

Most of the material here is given in a straightforward manner, with the presenters simply talking into the camera to address the audience directly, which is good because it avoids the trap of pretense. On the other hand, the quick edits between presenters (would it hurt to let them say more than one sentence at a time?) don't help because it reduces many of their points to palatable sound bites and aphorisms.

To many viewers, this may make the program come across as a series of nice ideas not rooted in reality. Plus it's somewhat spurious to claim that The Secret was well understood and practiced by specific individuals like Plato or Shakespeare (it's well known that some of the historical figures noted didn't exactly live happy or even prosperous lives, despite their achievements). But still, the primary message is one of positivity and hope for everyone. So what to make of it? In the end, programs like this generally find an audience that is open to the message, and many will probably find it to be a source of inspiration. Others will approach it with a good deal of skepticism or dismiss it as another way of marketing happiness the masses. It simply won't resonate with everyone, but if it resonates with you, you're likely to enjoy it and get a lot out of it.

Lecture: Circling San Francisco Bay: A Pilgrimage to Wild and Sacred Places
By Ginny Anderson, Ph.D

$5.00 - 20.00 Suggested donation, everyone welcome, no one turned away

Presentation Description:

Ginny Anderson will introduce her recently published book, "Circling San Francisco Bay: A Pilgrimage to Wild and Sacred Places". This multi-media presentation of a journey to places of power models a way to forge a deeper link with the natural world as it explores connections between sacred place, personal space, open hearts and intent.

The approach can help the reader discover energies in nature that define, sustain and support unique qualities of life in her own community. During our discussion, seeds of an Ashland circle may be planted as the audience is invited to share sites that have spoken powerfully to them, and which they view as defining, sustaining, and supporting unique qualities of life in the Ashland area.

Hindu mythology describes a beautiful and fragile net suspended in space above the palace of Indra, symbol of the forces of nature that sustain all life on the planet. Wherever the threads connect, a jewel reflects all the other points of connection, a reminder that the forces - and we ourselves - are forever intertwined.

Through this presentation, a graceful meditation on reciprocity with the natural world, you're invited to travel to sacred sites on a spiritual journey of healing, discovery, and delight.

Presenter's Biography:

Ginny Anderson holds a Ph.D. in psychology from Stanford University. She's counseled and taught at U.C. Davis, at Stanford, and at the Institute for Transpersonal Psychology. She maintains a private practice in Atherton, California.

The last full solar eclipse of the 20th century in this hemisphere was about to take place. I had come to Peru with a friend to witness that event. But as I went to bed our first night in Cuzco, I wondered uneasily, "What am I really doing here?" That night a powerful dream gripped me. In it, I was in my California home when an old woman rang the doorbell. As I opened the door, she said, "Your husband was my grand-daughter's doctor. His work was unsuccessful, and she is dying. I've taken your husband prisoner, and when you come with me, I'll release him." As we entered her home, she released my husband, but ushered me into a room where seven bewildered people were milling about; then she went down a hall, I followed, and found her in a bedroom, focused on a child who lay comatose in bed. The woman paid no attention to me, but was fully alert to the child. I immediately understood that I had come to Peru to learn to bear witness to the transformation of life as we know it on the planet.

Shamanism, feminist spirituality, and mindfulness meditation have been powerful guides through my life's terrain for over twenty years. The Stone Dancers, an amazing women's circle, continues a twenty-year history of exploring feminist spirituality through myth and ritual, through trance journeys and art, and through community involvement in numerous issues of social justice and the environment. This circle sustains me on my journey, and its dancers have accompanied me on many of the journeys described in Circling San Francisco Bay."

Free Workshop: Enjoy Your Brain #1: Use Both Sides of Your Brain
With Maria Stoecker

Free Admission

Presentation Description:

Dear Ashland community; learning, memorizing, concentration: what does that mean to you? Is it connected to stress, pressure, the anxiety of failure or joy, motivation, and the confidence of being successful?

During the last few decades brain science has proven: Learning, thinking, memorizing and being creative can be easy and joyful. Our brain even has a "center of joy" for learning. Normally we only use 4 - 5% of our brain (Harvard research). Let's magnify our capacity by using both sides of our brain.

Learning and memorizing becomes easy, fast and joyful. That serves us personally, as well as working with groups, planning projects in a creative and abundant way.

Presenter's Biography:

I was born in Germany and worked for 31 years as a teacher and assistant principal at several Elementary Schools, led workshops for teachers and dealt with Montessori and Freinet Pedagogic .

Alternative education brought me to brain science, which became my hobby and passion. I studied memorizing techniques and started to offer my own tutoring program to students, age 8 - 72.

Working with my students in Germany I showed them how to connect brain function, memory techniques, feelings and the basic senses with their project.

Workshop: The Yin Project
Facilitators: Tej Steiner, Datta Groover, Kim Keller and Rachael Kennedy

Workshop Description:

The Yin Project is about healing the conflict between the sexes so we can all enjoy the polarity and attraction when both the feminine and the masculine are fully ALIVE!

The YIN Project will help you get in touch with your own heart's guidance, so when you achieve the things you want, you'll feel gratitude and satisfaction, rather than be left with a feeling of "Is this all there is?"

The YIN Project encourages the process of looking at your shadow and at what aspects of yourself you have denied; this will be your greatest opportunity to move past the blocks you have had to intimacy and to fulfilling your dreams. You cannot move from where you are, unless you know where you are. This is the journey to Authenticity.
If you decide to join us, here are some of the powerful secrets you'll learn and experience for yourself:

- How to recognize the parts of yourself that have been 'disowned' and understand that the very acts of disowning them stand between you and what you want.

- How to acknowledge and create what YOU truly want, rather than what you are told you should want. BIG DIFFERENCE!

- How to find a more joyful and peaceful place whenever you want, no matter what is going on around you.

- How to increase intimacy and passion in your relationships.

- How to connect with the opposite sex in ways that feel good, and less confusing.
